Open world games normally required their own genres in years gone by, as limited hardware meant these large play areas came at the cost of visuals or gameplay complexity.
As games consoles have grown though, so have game worlds, to the point where any game franchise could open up into a larger experience with a less linear game world.
A lot of franchises need the push though, so we’ve taken the time to list ten franchises that could really do with injecting some open world gameplay into their formulas. Let’s just hope these ideas spread to the right people.
